PEAR TREE LOG

pear tree log: I started this blog to keep my younger son, Jonny, in touch with life in Lincolnshire, while he spent a year working in China. That year turned into five! Now he is home and training to become a physics teacher. This is simply a patchwork quilt of some of the things I enjoy - life in rural Lincolnshire, our animals, friends, architecture, books, the gardens, and things of passing interest.

SO THIS IS WHAT TINA TURNER GETS UP TO IN NANTUCKET...

Tina Turner was down at the farm
With Penelope, Henrietta and Charm
With tail feathers curled
They spun and they twirled
Then high-tailed it back to the barn

I don't sleep very well (bad back) so my nocturnal ramblings have turned into nocturnal limericks.

Visit Knatlolee.blogspot.com and enter her world-wide duck limerick competition.

It is fun and it's free.

A duckling called Jim had a pout
When someone else ate his trout
He settled for chips
And took tiny sips
From a glass of ice-cold Stout

Oh dear, I'm off again...  A horse-riding duck from Texas....

  1. How did you know that the hens and I were planting garlic behind the barn yesterday?!!! (Blog post shortly!)

Your limericks are the BEST. :)

  2. Natalie you are making me glow rose
From my ears to the tips of my nose
    My brain is elastic
    Stretchy and gymnastic
(Who'm I kidding?) Drivel just flows...

    I love your beautiful hens.

  3. A horse riding duck from Texas
Just drove to the barn in her Lexus
    When she dismounted
    She turned and then shouted,
"Where my horse the heck is?"

Oh dear, that's silly. I definitely don't have your talent, But thought I'd finish the one you started. (It was for me, right? ;-))))

  4. Hi Janet, That's great - and yes, I did hope you would pick it up and run with it. Hope I haven't infected your brain with silly limericks now. Even my reluctant husband has started spouting them!

  5. It is the end of the day and I'm still sitting in my office, laughing myself silly over this posting. I have to tell you something....I've started talking about you to others as though you are my friend. I say things like, "Elaine said this today". We have not met in person, but you have become real to me. I know you ramble around during the night like me. We both drink tea (mine's not English), love horses, old churches, and old buildings. I hope you get a laugh out of this comment. Now I'm off to see if I might come up with a limerick!

  6. Hi Meggie,
I am sitting up in bed right now - can't sleep as my daughter has just gone into labour with her second child. I feel exactly the same way about our friendship - it is wonderful to find someone who loves the same things - and even though we haven't met we do know an awful lot about one another. Have fun with the limericks - they infected my brain for a couple of weeks - everything I did suddenly became limerick material, so be careful, it is addictive stuff.
I love our little chats, long may they continue!
