PEAR TREE LOG

pear tree log: I started this blog to keep my younger son, Jonny, in touch with life in Lincolnshire, while he spent a year working in China. That year turned into five! Now he is home and training to become a physics teacher. This is simply a patchwork quilt of some of the things I enjoy - life in rural Lincolnshire, our animals, friends, architecture, books, the gardens, and things of passing interest.

OLD NICK

Old Nick had a minor operation today.  She is back home now, Jonny, so don't worry - she is fine.  Bob will be calling in to check on her over the weekend and the district nurse will see her on Monday.

We took her out and about in Grimsby yesterday.  Quite an experience!  It took more than three hours to do what she wanted, then we had to visit the 'Ladies' in House of Fraser (oh joy!) and just in case that wasn't enough fun, we had to take her to a restaurant for coffee and food - I'm still picking crumbs out of my hair...

She enjoyed herself though and I suppose that is the main thing.

My laptop computer crashed yesterday afternoon - it is up and running again now although it does seem to have developed one or two bad habits.

We have just finished our evening meal - pudding was baked apples with coconut custard - made by your Pa.  We will make a cook out of him yet!

Rather scarily Pip allowed Toby to lie down next to her and he was even able to put his head on her back - something she has never allowed him to do before.  It was lovely to see the two dogs together.  Another lovely thing was that Toby, and Bennie the cat,  shared a chair - it was a tight fit, but they settled down and had a lovely snooze together.

So, I will say 'bye for now and I will try to do the posting about the drainage system tomorrow!!

Lots of love,

Mum
