PEAR TREE LOG

pear tree log: I started this blog to keep my younger son, Jonny, in touch with life in Lincolnshire, while he spent a year working in China. That year turned into five! Now he is home and training to become a physics teacher. This is simply a patchwork quilt of some of the things I enjoy - life in rural Lincolnshire, our animals, friends, architecture, books, the gardens, and things of passing interest.

Things are Topsy-Turvy

Life is a little topsy turvy at the moment, no time to play. 
One tiny 6lb human being can create chaos! 
We live right next door to her.
So we are able to help out.
We get to the end of the day and find that we haven't done any of our own work.
Things will improve as she gets a little older... 
...it was the same with her mum - 33 years ago!
In the meantime, postings may be sporadic.

I hope you enjoy these pictures, they are from a wonderful book called The Fox's Frolic by Sir Frances Burnand, pictures by Harry Neilson.

It is all about the Topsy Turvy Hunt.
I was fortunate enough to find this book lurking in the bottom of a box of books which I purchased at auction, many years ago.
This is Francesca, cause of all the chaos.

    What a wonderful way to start my day. I had a feeling you were busy helping with the new baby. You are so lucky to live so close to your new granddaughter. Don't forget to take care of "Grandmother" too! What a beautiful name they have chosen for her.
    The illustrations were also perfect.

      Hello Meggie, We really are lucky, being so close, especially as Davina's husband can't take paternity leave for a while. Francesca is a lovely baby, very placid - the only problem is that she is... very lively at night. It is great fun having a baby around again though.

    The cause of chaos is perfectly adorable. It's certainly a blessing for your daughter to have you so near by to help. The Topsy Turvy Hunt book is wonderful. Francesca will probably enjoy it when she's older as well as all the other books on Grandmother's bookshelves.

    Lovely baby, lovely name! Our godson is a 90-minute drive away. I wish he were as geographically close to me as Francesca is to you. :) But we are going to be baby's first "road trip."
