They seemed very calm, quite at home. I hope they stay.
PEAR TREE LOG
pear tree log: I started this blog to keep my younger son, Jonny, in touch with life in Lincolnshire, while he spent a year working in China. That year turned into five! Now he is home and training to become a physics teacher. This is simply a patchwork quilt of some of the things I enjoy - life in rural Lincolnshire, our animals, friends, architecture, books, the gardens, and things of passing interest.

Oh my goodness....I have never seen swans in the wild. They are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Meggie, We may be working really hard, but we are getting to see some wonderful sights. I hope to go across to the pond later, I wonder whether they'll still be there!
DeleteI understand they mate for life...with the occasional "divorce".
DeleteOh wow - they're lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Molly, Aren't they terrific! 12 swans flying overhead last week and two land on the pond this week. It is a real treat.
DeleteSo beautiful they are.

Hello Elna, They are very beautiful, I was so pleased to see them!
DeleteFingers crossed they stay...
ReplyDeleteHi Green Dragonette, If my 'gang master' will allow me some time off this afternoon I'll pop across to check. I'll keep you posted.
DeleteThey are so serene...until threatened!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Hi Jane, They are completely fenced in and I kept my distance! Thank goodness for Jonny's camera.
DeleteWhat a sweet pair. You are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteHi Ms Sparrow, One thing I have learned, living out here, is to keep my eyes and ears open - Mother Nature is very generous - I just have to be receptive.
DeleteWhat an incredible picture of the swans. Your pond looks so lovely - no wonder they wanted to land there.
ReplyDeleteHi Evlyn, They are such elegant and graceful birds! The pond is fabulous, alas it isn't ours. It is approx 10 metres away from our property and a public right of way runs by it. I take advantage of that and enjoy the beauty. It is really attracting the wildlife this year.
DeletePond!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm nearly done packing Elaine, just need some y-fronts and socks - oooo and my fishing tackle!
Hi Chris, What a shame that the pond and the fishing rights are not ours, otherwise you'd be very welcome indeed. No doubt we'd be able to wangle you a ticket with the Village Fly Fishing group, they own the fishing rights on the river which runs through the village - a very nice alternative, or failing that a farmer has the fishing rights of an old grave pit which is located at the other end of the village. You'd be spoilt for choice!
