PEAR TREE LOG

pear tree log: I started this blog to keep my younger son, Jonny, in touch with life in Lincolnshire, while he spent a year working in China. That year turned into five! Now he is home and training to become a physics teacher. This is simply a patchwork quilt of some of the things I enjoy - life in rural Lincolnshire, our animals, friends, architecture, books, the gardens, and things of passing interest.

My Husband says I Have Changed...

I enjoy the peaceful life which life on the Edge of Nowhere, rural Lincolnshire, affords us.   I am quiet, I certainly do not like to draw attention to myself.
This afternoon we visited our local pub, The Railway Tavern, for a really enjoyable talk which was given by the landlord's daughter - Holly.   More about that in a future post.    George and I were separated -  I enjoyed a pleasant chat with Joan, one of our lovely village elders while George propped up the bar and enjoyed a chat with Keith, the landlord.

The beer garden was mostly filled with families and walkers, enjoying some September sunshine.  There was one table which was different, it had four young men sitting at it.   George, it turned out, had chatted with all of them while they were at the bar, discovering that they are recording at the local music studios for the next few weeks.  Of course he told me about them when I finally re-joined him,  he knows what a newshound I have become since beginning this blog.
Naturally, I had to get my camera out ...purely for blogging purposes you understand.   The fact that these four men were young and handsome had nothing to do with it.    You can see by the wave that I had been spotted!    I went over and said hello asking whether they minded me taking some photographs for my blog.   They were charming and immediately shuffled along the bench offering to make room so that I could be photographed with them, which was sweet.
SELIG - image borrowed from their website  www.selig.eu
Sadly, I had to decline, I don't do publicity! :-D
However, I am very happy to publicise these young men.  They are members of the German band SELIG, which means blessed.   According to one item I read about them they are the biggest small band in Germany - here's hoping that their stint at the Chapel Studios in South Thoresby results in some big hits for SELIG.

Best of luck boys - and thank you for being so sweet.

    1. Hello Jane and Lance, They are charming young men - I realise now that I had seen them earlier in the week - they were out jogging in the early morning sunshine. Our quiet corner of the world is never dull, and Selig certainly brightened my afternoon.

    1. Hello Joanne, Absolutely. They certainly put more sparkle into my afternoon than the two slimline tonic waters which I had consumed!

  3. I love these magical moments. I think for some of us, blogging is a great opportunity to come out a bit from our shells. I do find I'm much more open with strangers and much more interested in getting people's stories. I was always fairly outgoing, but blogging has made me even more comfortable (and desirous) to talk with people.

    1. Hello Mitch, It was magical. I confess that I do look at people, and the world, slightly differently now. Everyone has an interesting story to tell, or there is a photo-op to be grabbed. I have become (almost)shameless in exploiting this, but only in a good way, I hope. Of course it was my maternal side which was attracted to these handsome young men.

  4. I either have my camera or iPhone to shoot photos that catch my eye. How lovely to get to meet this group--you probably did wonders for their marketing by putting them on your blog! XOXO

    1. Hello Susan, Luckily I had my camera; they are delightful young men and their mothers should be proud of them! For once the sun was shining and everyone was warm and happy...of course it tends to do this in England once the children return to school after their long summer holiday.xx

  6. I loved this . . . I think I have changed too . . . I am frequently asking, "would you mind if I took some photos for my blog?". Before blogging I wouldn't have been as forward . . .

Looks like a fun group. I Googled them and they came up on You Tube. . . Going back to listen! Thank you!!

    1. Hello Ms Sparrow, I think you would enjoy a glass of something cold in the Railway Tavern - so many interesting people visit it, from all walks of life. It was nice to finally meet some of the musical ones. The little recording studio is one of the best in the country, quietly hidden down a country lane. Luckily for me these boys were not shrinking violets.

    1. Hello Roan, I only did it because they were not trying to hide away, had they been, I wouldn't have intruded, even for blog purposes. Luckily they were very happy to be spotted and snapped. Lovely boys.

  10. I wonder how they came upon the recording studio. Good for them for not doing the obvious; AND they get to meet real people!

    1. Hello Cro, Our quiet corner of the world is a surprising location for a top class recording studio, but that is what it is. Many a star has recorded songs and albums there, it has a very good reputation in the music industry. I guess that ordinarily it also guarantees them a little peace and quiet!

    1. Hello Owl, That is often the giveaway, isn't it? I wonder what the arrangements for parking will be with the new building...such a shame if the cars are hidden from view. It would spoil our local yokel fun.

  14. How exciting to have SELIG in your own backyard, so to speak. I listened to some of their music via youtube. I like it. Did you get their autographs? Looking at younger men....hmmmmmm! Good change...

By the way, the success of your blog is well deserved....Congratulations,100 followers!

    1. Hello Meggie, I know I said I had changed, but only slightly... No autographs, no photo with them. I reckon they deserved their down time although they were perfectly good-natured about letting me snap them. They were very easy on the eye - just don't tell George I said that!

    1. Hello Jane, You are spot on. The old chapel is being used as a recording studio, also the house next door to it. Any day now a huge new building will be completed with rather wonderful facilities for the bands/recordees.
