PEAR TREE LOG

pear tree log: I started this blog to keep my younger son, Jonny, in touch with life in Lincolnshire, while he spent a year working in China. That year turned into five! Now he is home and training to become a physics teacher. This is simply a patchwork quilt of some of the things I enjoy - life in rural Lincolnshire, our animals, friends, architecture, books, the gardens, and things of passing interest.

Morning Coffee with the Silver Fox

This wonderful chap was made by one of the students at the University of Shanghai.
The stitches are so tiny and neat and the eyes are beautifully embroidered.
There is no mistaking who is meant to be!

It has been a grey, rainy day but that didn't bother Jonny and I.  We took a trip to Louth and ran a few errands,  before enjoying a very nice pot of coffee in one of the many little tea rooms.

Time to get that hair cut!
The little doll is sporting a much better style.

  3. I'm just amazed at the resemblance in the doll and your son--the students did a beautiful job! We've had a grey, rainy too and a nice pot of tea and treat would be lovely...thank you for the idea:-) Enjoy your adventures with Jonny. XOXO

  4. Wonderful likeness. Perhaps he just didn't style it for his mom this morning. You're so happy to be him mom up close again; it's nice to see.

  9. I'm guessing of course, but is the fabric version more talkative and more civil than the non-fabric version in the mornings?

  14. Hello One and All, Thank you for all your kind comments. I am really enjoying having Jonny home and around the place again. He has begged for mercy once or twice as I pile his plate with more food!

I know his friends and students in China also read this blog, so just to let you know he is having a great time, doing a few jobs around the place, playing with his nephew and niece, relaxing, this weekend he will be meeting up with some old friends. x

  15. Wow. The doll is a doll... and so's the doll. If I could grow hair like Jonny's I wouldn't cut it either!
